Making Things Right with Bathroom Renovation

One of the best methods to increase the overall value of your house is to remodel your bathroom. When guests use the bathroom of a house, it would always leave a lasting impression to them. Therefore, it is integral to always have a clean and nice-looking bathroom. It is not just for the benefit of your guests, but you will be able to appreciate your home more with a good bathroom.

Homeowners usually think that bathroom renovations can be very invasive and intimidating.  Although this can be true in some cases, but with proper planning, the renovation can go smoothly until it is completed. Of course, it will take some time and effort to complete the entire project but everything will be worth the hard work and labor.  To get started, you should plan on what design you will use for your bathroom. You can start things out with a blueprint of your ideal bathroom. You may ask for assistance from professional remodelers if you are not sure with your current ideas. The remodelers will make sure that the renovation process will be completed on your expected date.

5 Tips to Plan Your Next Bathroom Remodeling Project

Will you be installing a new sink, cabinets, lighting, tiling, bathroom fixtures? Will you be moving a wall or installing a walk-in shower or new toilet? List all of these things on your bath remodel task list. That way, if demolition is needed, you’ve prepared ahead of time. This also helps eliminate the risk of last minute surprises while allowing you to come up with the budget you’ll need to complete the project. You should consider replacing your bathroom tiles and countertops if they are already worn out. Greasy tiles are dirty to look at and cleaning them might not make things better. If you are thinking about the cost of bathroom tiles, always remember that there are affordable ones out there. You might be fortunate enough to have a remodeler that also sells bathroom tiles. Aside from the tiles, you should also consider installing a new countertop for your bathroom.

Bathroom Renovation Gone Right

Installing a granite counter top with dual undermount sinks and high gloss faucets complement the slate tile wall with textured marble accent. The shower has a 8” piece deep granite shelf to store towels for convenience after your shower. There is a corner seat, and a river-rock floor at the base of the shower, with a glass wall. The glass wall has a rainfall texture. This helps hide water spots and reduces the frequency of cleaning required. The glass is purposely left about 8 inches below the ceiling. This gap allows for the steam to flow out of the shower towards the exhaust fan, reducing moisture build up and risk of mould. Visit the main site to view the full article.

Tips on How to Save Money from Bathroom Renovation

Most bathroom renovations are costly. Homeowners typically allocate a large budget for a complete bathroom remodelling. Nevertheless, there are still ways to cut down the cost of this kind of project. Before deciding to have your bathroom remodelled, you must have an estimate on how much money you should spend for it. The fixtures, bathroom tiles, and the cost of the contractor should be seriously considered. Fortunately, there are affordable materials that you could utilize in changing the look and feel of your bathroom.

You can start with the paint. Repainting your bathroom is one of the cheapest ways to change its looks and improve its ambiance. It is recommended that you use bright and clean colors on your bathroom walls to create that comfortable feeling whenever you are inside. Dark and rugged paint colors will make your bathroom look dirty and gloomy. Aside from the paint, you should also consider changing your bathroom tiles. If your current tiles already look faded and dirty, you should have them replaced as part of the renovation. Try to install bathroom tiles that can complement the color of your bathroom walls.

Money-Saving Bathroom Renovation Tips

Anyone who renovates their home bathroom will know that cost is something that is often miscalculated. A few of the things that cause bathroom renovation costs to balloon are the outside help that you hire, as well as the replacement of fixtures like the bathtub, sink and toilet.  Check out http://www.bestsellinghomes.com/blog/money-saving-bathroom-renovation-tips/ to view the entire article.

Many homeowners commit mistakes when remodelling their bathroom. One of these mistakes is overspending. Without proper planning, you might end up spending too much money more than you have planned. Other common mistakes are poor lighting, and bad ventilation. In a bathroom renovation, you should always make sure that there is enough lighting and ventilation in the room.

Top 10 Bathroom Renovating Mistakes And How To Avoid Them

One of the most common issues in a bathroom is a leaking shower and it is an expensive item to fix. Best to do it right the first time by engaging a certified-waterproofing tradesman and ensure that you are provided with a waterproofing certificate and warranty. If you sell your home following the bathroom renovation you will be required to produce the waterproofing certificate. To continue reading, visit the main source of the article.

Once a bathroom renovation has been completed, you should already experience a more comfortable feel when using your bathroom. That is the main reason why you had it remodelled in the first place. If you feel like there are still things that need improvement in your bathroom, you can add bathroom accessories instead. Modern Bathroom Renovations

There are several reasons why a bathroom renovation becomes a necessity to some home owners. One good reason is if a bathroom could no longer provide the comfort that the user needs. Bathrooms are supposed to be one of the few rooms in the home that can provide relaxation and peace of mind to the user. However, when the user could no longer experience such feelings in the bathroom, it means something is wrong with it. A bathroom renovation is the only solution.

If you happen to have such a bathroom, you should really consider renovating it. Nonetheless, bathroom renovations should not be done in a rush. It requires some careful planning on your part. First, you need to picture out the outcome of your desired bathroom. Think about how much space is needed to make your bathroom comfortable. Also think about the design that you want to be incorporated in the room. If you are not sure on what to decorate, you can view some samples on the internet. Give it a twist if you want to. A layout plan is vital before any bathroom renovation. This way, the renovators will have an idea on how they should redesign your bathroom.

How To Plan A Bathroom

Are you looking for advice on planning a bathroom? You are definitely not alone! Many people would love to redecorate and revitalise their bathrooms, but they really aren’t sure where to turn. That’s why we’ve put together these tips on planning a bathroom, regardless of the bathroom size. After all, it doesn’t matter if your bathroom is luxurious or cosy. It still needs to perform — and do so in style. If you want to read the full article, simply visit https://www.houseofhome.com.au/blog/how-to-plan-a-bathroom.

Modern bathroom renovations can get very costly if you have no plans. You need to carefully choose the right materials for your bathroom, such as the bathroom tiles and bathtub. Bathroom accessories are expensive in the market but you can cut down the cost if you know how to look for high-quality materials. The shower should also be carefully selected. The entire cost of the renovation should be anticipated in advance.

What does it cost to renovate a Bathroom?

The cost to renovate an average size bathroom here in Australia is between $20,000 –  $25,000 dollars. Now that will vary up or down depending on the size of the room and the selection of finishes, but that allowance should cover most standard size bathrooms. For the complete info, visit the article source at http://www.renovationjunkies.com.au/what-does-it-cost-to-renovate-a-bathroom/.

Hiring a professional designer would be more convenient if you are too busy to plan for a bathroom layout. Nevertheless, if you go with that option, you should still need to discuss with the designer on what you want to happen with your bathroom. The renovation should be done in just a few days once you have employed the right people.

Easy Ways to Bathroom Renovation

Bathroom renovation can get very costly on the part of the owner. Modern bathroom equipments today are quite expensive and its installation is another expense. Many people might think that a bathroom renovation is only a thing for the rich people. That idea is completely false. Ordinary home owners can still make some bathroom renovations. Here is a quick guide on how to renovate your bathroom in the cheap way:

First, you need to upgrade the basic equipment of the bathroom first. Start replacing the most damaged items. Maybe you can replace your shower first. There are many modern showers today that are cheap but are of high-quality. Next, consider replacing your bathroom tiles. Your current tiles might look very old and untidy due to the accumulation of grouts. A replacement is your easy solution. Make sure that you choose a bathroom tile that looks clean. If you don’t have a vanity mirror yet, you should consider installing one in your bathroom. It is a necessity for any home owner. If you think your bathroom lights are getting dimmer, it is best to have them replaced. For home owners who are on a tight budget, it is recommended to do the bathroom renovation little by little.

Cheap bathroom renovation ideas

When it comes to investing in property value, updating your bathroom comes a close second to the kitchen as a smart way to spend your renovation budget. But people often steer clear of the bathroom as a DIY home renovation project because it’s seen as expensive. Here are some of the top bathroom design trends and how to adapt them to your budget. More ideas can be found at this site.

If you want to complete the renovation in a short span of time, you should anticipate its entire cost. Try checking in your local hardware stores on the cost of bathroom necessities, such as the sink, showers and shower walls, toilet bowls, bathtubs, and small bathroom accessories. After calculating the costs of the items, you also need to add the cost of labor. Bathroom renovations can be very exhausting if done alone. You will need the assistance of bathroom renovators.

Our Bathroom Renovation – What It Cost

How much does the average bathroom renovation cost? A lot of people lately say the average cost is often $15,000 to $20,000, and for work, I’ve frequently written about top-to-toe bathroom renovations that have started from $8,000 and ones that have gone up into the $50,000 mark. Eeesh. For the full article, visit the article source: http://www.house-nerd.com/articles/our-bathroom-renovation-what-it-cost.

The Dos and Don’ts of Bathroom Renovation

One of the most essential parts of the house is the bathroom. There are many reasons why this is the case. One of which is because it is the only room in the house where one can enjoy total privacy and relaxation. Having a comfortable bathroom is something every home owner desires. However, not all houses have wonderful-looking bathrooms. This is where bathroom renovations and remodelling becomes a necessity.

Bathroom renovation is not just simply changing some of the things you have in your bathroom, such as the sink and toilet bowl. It is so much more. Some bathrooms require more serious renovations than others. The very first thing you need to consider in a renovation is the toilet bowl, sink, and bathtub. These three are the key appliances inside a bathroom. If you feel like any of the three needs replacement, it is best to plan for renovation along with it. Bathroom renovation also includes the replacement of bathroom essentials and the expanding of space. As with any form of renovation, there is always a cost that needs to be settled. Modern bathroom renovations might get costly at times, but you can save lots of money once you know the dos and don’ts of bathroom renovation.

How much does a bathroom renovation cost?

For an estimate figure, you can expect to spend anywhere between $10,000 to $35,000+. The cost can vary depending on the size of your bathroom, the materials used, as well as any labour costs. However, it is possible for a renovation to cost lower around $5000 if you are willing to swap out a few items or keep the refresh a largely cosmetic update. The full article can be found at this site: https://www.homeimprovementpages.com.au/article/how_much_does_bathroom_renovation_cost.

In order to lower your expenses with the bathroom renovation, you must carefully select the items that you need to install or place in your bathroom. This includes the bathtub. Bathtubs are the vital part of a bathroom. A bathroom could not be called as such without a bathtub. Modern bathtubs today are becoming cheaper depending on the size and brand. But there are high-quality bathtubs at affordable costs.

How to choose your freestanding bathtub

One of the first considerations you should have in mind is where the bathtub will be placed. Freestanding doesn’t have to mean ‘in the middle of the room’ and is more describing the fact that it sits separate from walls and other fixtures. To view the full guide, simply visit http://bubblesbathrooms.com.au/blog/bathroom-design/how-to-choose-your-freestanding-bathtub/.

After installing the vital parts of the bathroom, you may start selecting the accessories that you want to add in it. Start with the things that you use in a daily basis before anything else, such as the mirror. If you want to add more decors to the room to create a more soothing ambiance, you can also do so. Adding an appropriate painting in the room might set the right mood for the user.

The Basics of Bathroom Renovation

Every area of the home requires some grooming in order to look attractive. Some parts are more important than others, such as the bathroom. Almost all home owners would agree that the bathroom is one of the most important rooms in the house. It is where people get to groom themselves. For many, it is a place of relaxation. Bathrooms should be a place where an individual can feel comfort. If your bathroom does not provide you the comfort you need, you might need to consider getting a renovation.

Bathroom renovation is not that easy. It requires some careful planning on the part of the owner. There are several things that you have to consider before getting any sort of renovation or remodelling for your bathroom. First is the space. There must be enough space in your bathroom. If there is not enough, you should consider having a complete renovation instead. It might get costly though but it will be worth it. The next thing you need to plan is the items you install in your bathroom. You should make sure that you are only using high quality sinks and toilet bowls.

Bathroom Renovation Guide

Be it an en suite, guest or family bathroom, good design is paramount as bathrooms can be surprisingly tricky to renovate. They are generally compact spaces that house a number of integrated functions. Renovating a bathroom brings with it a special set of considerations, including waterproofing, water-resistant finishes, load-bearing and structural integrity requirements. The full article can be found at https://www.domain.com.au/advice/bathroom-renovation-guide/.

You will also need to carefully choose the bathroom accessories that you need to place in your bathroom. It is not recommended to put too much items in the bathroom. Instead, only place accessories that are really needed, such as tissue papers, soap containers, and mirrors. Keep it simple as much as possible. If you think a drawer is necessary inside the bathroom, get only a small one.

8 Bathroom Renovation Tips & Ideas

Traditional shower drains have changed dramatically in recent times.  Once a simple hole in the middle of the shower area, the latest stainless-steel floor grates are very effective at draining away the water flow.  Positioned in the centre of the shower recess or down one end, these grates generally run the full width of the shower stall.  A plumber and tiler are required for installation and the floor has to be sloped towards the grate.  Available in various widths, a contemporary shower grate adds an architectural edge at a reasonable price. For the full guide, check out this site.

Although bathroom renovation is not that easy, it is not entirely complicated either. As long as you know the basics of bathroom renovation, you can get a comfortable-looking room in just a few weeks. You will not need an interior designer for this stuff because you can do it on your own. You will just need to employ bathroom renovators if there are things that need to be professionally installed.

Effortless Bathroom Renovation Guide

It is a must for any homeowner to keep each of the rooms in their house clean and organized. No one would want to stay in a room that is not tidy to look at. Many people would probably agree on the fact that the bathroom is one of the most important rooms in the home. This is because it is one of the few places wherein you can enjoy your privacy and relax within your desired period of time. However, not all bathrooms can provide this kind of convenience to their users. Some of the reasons are small spaces, discoloured sinks and tubs, and outdated bathroom accessories. If you are one those homeowners who think that their bathrooms aren’t a place for relaxation, you might want to consider renovating your bathroom already.

There are several things that you need to consider when renovating your bathroom. First, you need to expand its space. Tightly spaced bathrooms are not comfortable to stay for many reasons. A complete renovation is necessary and you will need the help of professional renovators. Next, you may need to dispose your outdated bathtub. Modern bathtubs have more functionalities than traditional ones. You can browse a few samples online.

Master Bathroom Renovation: Before + After

The number one change we knew we wanted to make was to enlarge the shower and get rid of the oversized jacuzzi bath.  Aaron refuses to take a bath so that space is totally wasted on him and, while I do enjoy a bath, no amount of bleach could get me used to a jacuzzi bath that other people had used for decades and decades before we moved in.  Is that weird?!  I just feel like with all of the tubes and jets in those things, how can they possibly ever really be clean?  This bath tub is just 60″ wide which is perfect for me and gave us an extra two feet to work with in the shower, which now feels amazingly enormous! This is an article from an expert bathroom renovator and you read it in full here.

Adding more accessories in your bathroom is also an important step in its renovation. After expanding the space, you need to install tools that are needed when taking a bath, such as a shower and a soap container. You will also need a towel handle just outside the shower area. You can even add some furniture inside your bathroom.

Four Small Bathroom Vanities that Make a Big Impact

This first example is a wall-to-wall vanity that’s only three feet wide. It’s one of the smallest vanities we’ve ever installed, but the shaker doors and mid-tone gray wood stain makes it a stylish addition to this washroom. The contemporary vanity is paired with a white granite countertop, and the textured white backsplash tiles add a homey look in this small space. The frameless mirror and the small decorations on the wall all contribute to the character of the space, making this washroom just as comfortable as the rest of the home. See more in this link.

Bathroom renovation is certainly a must for homeowners who are planning to have an upgraded lifestyle. Once you have a more comfortable bathroom, you can start to enjoy your private moments every single day. And with the right bathroom accessories, you will have no other things to worry about anymore.

What I Wish I Had Done Differently in My Bathroom Reno

These days, blogger Tanya of Dans Le Lakehouse is a pro home DIYer — but she was just a home-remodeling novice when she embarked on her first bathroom reno.

Several years after the dust settled on the project, Tanya looked back objectively on what worked and what fell flat. What she discovered? It’s easy to get bogged down in the thousands of tiny decisions associated with a remodel and wind up making some big mistakes.

Hire Out the Big Work

Since she had never tackled a bathroom reno before, Tanya wisely hired out the bathtub replacement and tile surround. Having everything installed quickly and correctly was worth the extra money.

Get a Soaking Tub and Removable Shower Head

These little luxuries yielded big rewards in terms of comfort and convenience to Tanya, making them worth any extra expense.

Consider Tiling Options More Carefully

In a time crunch and overwhelmed with options, Tanya didn’t bother to swap the boring white tiles that came with her bathroom package for something more stylish, like subway tiles. As a result, she forever hated the tiles in her new bathroom.

Add Some Kind of Storage Nook Into Shower

It wasn’t until the shower was installed that Tanya noticed its ledge-less design left nowhere to put soap. She wishes she had been upsold on a cubby or nook in the shower so razors, shampoo, and basic bath products had somewhere to go. To solve the problem, she frustratingly had to stick an ugly suction soap dispenser on the shower wall. Learning of the different tips on how you can get the right looks for your bathroom is imperative. When you follow all these things by heart, then you will never have to worry about other matters, or you will never be frustrated of the outcome that you will see. These are matters that have to be applied as you are doing home renovation.

Such a project could be initiated without having to spend so much money, and that it can somehow give you happy feelings, because of the fact that you know something is done and a few touch up is executed on a certain portion of your house. All these are important matters that you will have to carefully plan out.

In such a manner that you will be able to fully see how things are to be initiated once and for all. Read below as these are all important matters that you will have to keep in mind all the time.

DIY Bathroom Refinishing

This past weekend, my whole family drove down here from PA to help us crank out the last of our major house projects. It. Was. Awesome. We had 6 extra set of hands working away for 3 days and we were able to get so much done. We are seriously blessed to have a family that would travel all the way here and devote so much of their time and energy to help us with our home. I think everyone was exhausted by the time we called it quits yesterday!

Thanks to my family, now I have lots of projects to share with you! But before I do that, I need to play catch-up. Knowing they were coming motivated me to cross off a bunch of projects off of my growing to-do list – like actually finishing our never-ending bathroom renovation! After tiling the shower surround, the bathroom was in much more livable condition that we were able to take a little break to focus on other areas of the house that needed attention. But last week I finally made time for DIY bathtub refinishing and hung up the shower curtain I made (I’ll show you that next), so I’ll be able to do the official before & after bathroom breakdown!

This was my first time using a tile & tub refinishing kit, so I’m certainly no expert on the matter, but I can show you what I did and what I learned. Check this out for more DIY tips in bathroom renovation…

Thus, in the way you begin your bathroom renovation, you must look at how selection appointments can essentially benefit you the most. First thing is first, it is through the selection appointments that you will see the different materials or needed equipments which you can choose and buy for your bathroom. It is a process that needs creative thought processing so that you can set everything ready as they are.

Bathroom Remodel Planning: Selections Appointments

At your selections appointment you will be making selections and decisions about every detail of your bathroom remodeling project: tubs, showers, toilets, vanity cabinets, countertops, faucets, medicine cabinets, lights, colors and finishes, every detail right down to the door knobs.

There is no time during the entire process when all this information will be more fresh on your mind or ours.

If you are happy with the materials and the cost and you choose to move forward and buy the bathroom, your designer will write up all of the paperwork, right then, the contract, specification sheets, material lists, quantities, everything. Not only will your designer be able to write it much faster, but because all the decisions were just made, all the selections are right there, spread out on the counter. There will be very little chance that there will be any mistakes or misunderstandings.

If the job is designed, sold, and written up accurately, with no mistakes or misunderstandings, then the job will run smoothly and efficiently and a smooth, efficient mistake-free remodel is a win-win for both the company and the customer. The project will be more profitable for the company and a pleasant, stress-free experience for the customer. How To Achieve Home Improvement In The Simplest Way Possible

There are so many things that you can do so that you can get the right amount of home improvement that is going to be perfect for your house. You need to make sure that you know very well what could be the most suitable thing that you can start doing for your house. In fact, you can look at your floor and somehow consider getting a floating laminate, so that you can enhance the beauty of your floor for that matter.

Such a method is considered by most as one of the most affordable and fast means on how you can accentuate the inside beauty of your home. With a reasonable amount of time that you have, then you can pretty well make your floor totally beautiful to be stepped on. There are a variety of colours as well as designs or patterns that you can opt for.

What are Floating Laminate Floors?

If you want to give your home an immediate and affordable facelift within a reasonable amount of time, then a floating laminate floor may be just what you need. Laminate floors have been growing in popularity over the recent years because of their durability and the wide variety of colors and patterns in which they are available.

Floating laminate floors are not attached to the subfloor or substrate underneath them. They install quickly and easily and can even be a DIY job with the right tools on hand. Made of sturdy interlocking planks that snap into place, they fasten and float over your subfloor or current flooring, giving your home a new look with a short installation time.

What is laminate flooring made of?

According to DIY Network, laminate flooring is made of “ wood fibers and pulp bonded to a plastic surface.” These are then formed into planks that mimic the look of hardwoods, stone, or tile for a fraction of the cost.

These planks are made to connect with each other through interlocking grooves that are on all sides. This efficient process eliminates the need for nails, glue, or staples, allowing the finished floor to rest comfortably and discreetly over your current floor.

Floating laminate planks consist of four layers. The wear layer is the top layer that protects the bottom three layers from footfalls and other wear and tear. The second layer, or photographic layer, contains the image of the desired wood, tile, or stone the homeowner wants. Learn additional information on laminate floorings when you click this link.

It is not only your floors that you have to put so much focus and emphasis into, you need to also ensure that you get the best bathroom design ideas that you can ever think of, so that you will never feel that you are cramped in your old bathroom. When you are going to start with the renovation process of your bathroom, then you will certainly feel that its appeal and aesthetics is something that becomes more and more pleasant for you.

Bathroom Shower Design Ideas

Is your shower feeling a little cramped or outdated? Would you like something that is more functional and appealing? Next to the kitchen, the bathroom is one of the most important spaces in your home and, potentially, one of the best investments. A new, modern shower can change the character of your bathroom and increase its value, both in terms of your personal enjoyment and its effect on the long-term market value of your home.

Whether you have a smaller space or plenty of room, there are a variety of things you can do yourself—or with a bit of help—to create the shower of your dreams.

Custom Shower Features

The entire design of your shower will depend on the features you would like to incorporate, such as multiple shower heads, shelving, seating, or lighting. Some of these features can easily be added yourself, while others may require assistance. Here are some features to consider for your shower design:

  • Shelving:Intelligently-designed shelves create a convenient place to store soaps, shampoos, and other products where they are easily-accessible. Simple shelves can be added yourself, or they can be built in during the construction process.
  • Seating:A bench creates relaxing place to enjoy a long, decadent shower, and it adds accessibility to any design. A simple bench can be added yourself, or one can be built during the construction process.
  • Rain Shower Head:With a large dispersion pattern that is soft and relaxing, rain shower heads are extremely popular. This is an easy addition to many bathroom designs, though for the best effect, additional plumbing may be needed for overhead placement. How To Start The Bathroom Renovation You Dream Of Having

There are so many homeowners that are gushing over how new and shiny their bathroom is after they have started their renovation. Thus, it is really a good project to initiate bathroom renovation, so that you will see for yourself the innate beauty that you could unleash for your bathroom. You will be pleased at where you are placing or investing your money into and that you can always be proud to show your newly renovated bathroom to your visitors. It is really a great thing to have all things prepared for great things to come.

There will be a lot of challenges that you will encounter as you are going to begin with the bathroom renovation, yet the most important thing to always remember is that you need to ensure that proper planning is done so that the execution would be perfect. There are a lot of matters that you will need to settle first so that you will always get the right outcome in the end, and to prepare you for it, you must read the details below.

W&D Renovates – A Pattern Happy Basement Bathroom

I can’t tell you how nice it is have a shiny new place to take a shower in this house. For being built in the 1920s, the bones are great, but the plumbing… not so much! When we bought the house we had only one measly bathroom on the third floor and an, ahem, “open-air” throne in the basement next to the laundry.  Fast forward to our renovation last summer, and we now have a basement that acts as our family room, a powder room for guests on the main floor, and after some additional dust and debris, now an extra full bath in the basement!!

Now, we’re really saving our pennies to go full out on the bathroom on the 2nd floor. But the basement bath is all about getting the most bang for our buck with great quality materials and design decisions that make an impact without spending thousands on tile work. Still, I wanted the space to feel anything but builder grade!

This bathroom was originally inspired the this blog post. We ended up moving away from the idea of black fixtures and decided rather to connect the design palette with all the choices we had already made throughout the main floor and basement: keep it light, bright, and fresh. It is, after all, a basement with few windows! After our first round of design inspiration, we had this rendering from McDonald Remodeling. As you begin your bathroom renovation, you must always remember about whether you need to hire a professional or not. Keep in mind that if you hire one, then you can always be assured of great results and plans that are perfectly executed, yet you must be prepared to spend a fortune for the professional that you have hired. On the other hand, you can always do it yourself, but you can never be assured that you will be saved from so many hassles.

Planning A Bathroom Remodel: DIY, or Hire a Pro?

So, you’re in the mood to make some bathroom improvements, inspired by makeover stories you read online and see on TV? Whether you’re planning a half bath makeover, pine for a spa-like retreat at home, or want modest updates to refresh a space, there are many aspects of a bathroom makeover that you can learn to do yourself (proudly). Learn what upgrades you can learn to do, and what tasks you should consider hiring out to a pro.

  • You can buy a new, modern sink top to fit the existing base, and while the top is removed, update the finish with paint or gel stain (gel stain is a personal favorite for transforming the look of builder basic oak, and it’s easy to apply).

  • If the style of the bevels and trim on the doors doesn’t match your style, you can also get replacement doors and drawer fronts to size. Most units have standard size fronts, which makes them easy to replace. These factors are what you should always keep in check. In a way, you will always be given the chance to see how you can benefit from the services that these professionals will render to you. It is important that you have chosen the best professionals to assist you in all matters that require advance help and that you can always rely on their creative minds and works fully. There are so many things that you should always list and take note about in this bathroom renovation project so that you will never miss a single thing that has to be done.

Bathroom Renovation Trends

In many cases homeowners are opting to forego the bathtub to increase the space in in the bathroom. Although some realtors might advise that this could impact resales, as more people are planning to stay in their homes, they are renovating to suite their own needs. However, when tubs are updated the trend is towards free standing models.

Radiant floor heating is becoming more mainstream, which also means tile floors are increasingly popular.

Custom vanities are in demand, designed to meet the homeowner’s requirements for space and to match the design of the room as a whole, whether it’s sleek and minimalist or more traditional.

In many older homes the bathroom was designed for function rather than aesthetics, and invariably it’s a small, dark and dreary space. However tiles, paint and accessories can all contribute to creating the appearance of a larger and definitely brighter room.

It’s [shamefully] been a YEAR since we started, so I think a refresher is necessary. Well, it didn’t really take us a whole year, but we did work on it in sporadic stages over the course of a year. This was our first major DIY undertaking, so I’m giving us a free pass on the timeline. Let’s take a walk down memory lane to summarize how we got here. I’m warning you now – this post is a BEAST! Feel free to skip to the pretty “afters” at the bottom if you want

Here is how it looked when Phil bought the house – back when it was a tropical “oasis” with palm tree wallpaper.

This helped so much until we were ready to tackle the big renovation. Our plan to renovate the bathroom was not just for our own enjoyment, but for resale value as well. The basic look we wanted was something fresh and updated but with some vintage touches. We could only afford to spend $1,000 to do it, but I was determined to make that money stretch as far as it could. That meant getting creative, searching for deals, putting in a TON of time and work, and making every aspect a DIY project.

The floor was the first project we tackled, and it was also the scariest. Demolition is the easy part… Great ideas on bathroom renovation revealed here…

Bathroom Hardware Checklist: Bathroom Makeover in Minutes

A well-functioning bathroom is crucial whether you are a bachelor living on his own or a busy mom maintaining an active home. Fortunately, this is not an insurmountable task. In fact, with a few quick switches, you can have your bathroom running smoothly in no time. You like the idea, but then come the questions, quickly followed by the doubts. What do I need for a well-functioning bathroom? What kind of hardware should I use for my bathroom cabinets? If my bathroom is tiny, can I still maintain order? These are common enough questions regardless of which category you fall under. If you’re not sure where to start, use this bathroom hardware checklist. You don’t have to tackle each area all at once. Take it slow, but remember that once this list is completed, your morning, evening and all-day routines will never be the same (for the better, of course).

BATHROOM HARDWARE CHECKLIST:

– Bathroom cabinet hardware: You can use this catalyst to create a fabulous colorscheme or personalized design theme. Begin with a certain style, color or finish for your cabinet hardware and keep the theme going throughout the rest of the bathroom hardware and accessories. Whether or not you are into stylizing your home, the most important thing to remember about bathroom hardware is that waterproof resistance is not an option it’s a prerequisite. That is, unless you like replacing your knobs, hooks etc. every few months.

– Shower caddies: A shower caddy is useful beyond belief; it’s the backbone of shower sanity. Use shower caddies to keep things organized and out of the way whether you are showering, bathing the kids or enjoying a relaxing bubble bath after hours. Use a single shelf for just a couple of bottles of soap and shampoos or multi-tiered shower caddies for the cornucopia of bathing products that comes along with multiple shower users. Remember to continue your color scheme with this piece of bathroom hardware.

– Shower curtain/rod/hooks: Another way to introduce decor into your bathroom, shower curtains and their accessories are an easy way to make a big statement. Choose wild prints with whimsical shower curtain hooks or opt for more subtle colors and an elegant shower curtain rod; whichever will express your personality more.
